János Eifert - Biography

He was born in 08.05.1943. in Hódmezövásárhely, Hungary.

1960-1977: professional dancer of Honvéd Dancegroup. Starts making photos in 1968 on tours abroad.

1977: Photographer of Lobogó, 1978-88 Búvár, 1991-92 Képes Extra, 1991-93 BOOM, than Új Tükör, Népmüvelés, Muzsika, Világ Ifjúsága and of other papers.

1984-: Artistic leader of Sebesvíz International Workshop; giving courses at the Erste Werkschule für Fotografie in Soltau, Höhere Graphische Bundes- Lehr- und Versuchstanstalt Wien, and BodyArt in Bayreuth. Leading teacher of mastercourses organized by the Hungarian Photographers Association.

1985-: creating diaporamas. Winning several awards and grand prixs in prestigious international diaporama festivals with Hard Rocks (1985), Replayed Time (1987), There was once a Village (1988), Situation Report (1989), Carneval in Venice (1989), Let me Introduce my Wife (1990), Fire Dance (1991), Masks (1992), Introduction (1995), Autrement (2005), Eye-Contact, Labirinth (2006).

1993: His photo titled „Dance” and his diaporama „Fire Dance” were selected in the historical collection of FIAP. Diaporama performance in Paris invited by Photo Ciné Club. (Un soir, un auteur – Studio Raspail)

1994: Tour with diaporamas in the United Kingdom, invited by the Royal Photographic Society, also in Germany, Austria and Italy.

1998: artistic director of I. National Photoweek, 1999 chairman of advisory board of II. National Photoweek, festivaldirector of Photomonth in 2000, 2002.

2000: associate founder and first artistic director of Documentation of Contemporary Collection of Photography funded by National Széchenyi Library and the Hungarian Photographers Association, deputy-chairman of HUNGART, expert, member of its Expert Board.

2001: works as a journalist for FotoVideo and Foto Mozaik; artistic director of the Gallery of National Dance Theater.

2001-2006: living and working in the town of Györ /H/.

2002-: teacher of Hungarian DanceAcademy, the School of Dance and Fine Art in Győr and the Socrates Technical School; teaching Photograpy, pressphotograpy and pressedition.

2002-2004: Artistic director of MEDIAWAVE-Festival (Györ / H)

2004-: Artistic director of Zoom Magazine

2005-: front page photographer of Györi Hét.

2006: Chinese Photographers Association invited to China, Xinjiang
